Lieutenant Charles Lancaster Taylor was born in Barnes, London, on September 23rd 1873. He was educated at Harrow School and attended Royal Military College, Sandhurst in 1893 and enlisted with the South Wales Borderers in March 1894. He saw action in the Boer Wars and World War One.
