Military General Service Medal 1793-1814 for Private James Dunlop of the 24th Regiment. This medal includes four clasps for Orthes, Pyrenees, Vittoria and Salamanca.
Private James Dunlop was born c1791 in the Parish of Calton in Edinburgh. He enlisted as a Private in the 24th Regiment on May 2, 1811 at the age of 20 years. During his service he served under under Captain John Ingram’s Company. Dunlop served for three years and 291 days when he was discharge on February 16, 1815 due to the loss of one joint of right thumb at Bourdeaux in France June 3, 1814.
He was described as 5 feet and 8 inches tall with brown hair and hazel eyes.
